just a thought

we spend all of our lives, creating who we are, making ourselves out to be some specific person. whether it has to do with what we wear, what we say, what we listen to, no matter what it is, we, as humans, do this everyday. and yet, this 'person' that we create, after all these years, what happens...when you dont like what youve created?..can you just change?..can you simply become something else, even though it took you years and years to become who you were...

sunday again

So another week in the books, and that much closer to...iono, another sunday??

Just received 3 of the 7 cds i have preordered/bought over the last month. Far really was a pretty kickass band, too bad they broke up and went their separate ways. As for the United Nations cd, shit its awesome. Never would i have ever imagined that a [insert their genre here] band could be this awesome to listen to. Of course, the mood has to be right to listen to them, or else it just makes you more pissed off XD.

Other than that...a whole lot of nothing going on really, just suffered through two tests in school..which reminds me, i have one more tomorrow >.<...

the weekend of the 13th

ok, so the 13th landed on a saturday, no big deal...or is it??

friday was pretty usual, chilled with some friends in a parking lot, didnt really do much. saturday tho, blown off twice, but more importantly, partied in woodside hills in quite possibly the most beautiful house i have ever been in in terms of landscaping. it was simply unbelievable, yet awesome.

tonight tho...the fun began just when the night was nearing its end. got in my first car accident, not cool. worst part is, the guy who ran into just drove off when i waved for him to pull over....talk about a douchebag. o well, got his license plate number and called CHP. they said that it was great that i got the plates, and that theyd said an officer over to my house.........

that was over 2 hours ago, im straight pissed off right now.

revelation

Ive been doing alot of thinking lately about music and how its lost its...luster so to speak. And then Geoff Rickly of Thursday wrote on headbangers blog. He wrote about the lack of meaning in music today, which of course, is what I have been thinking about lately, quoting Marshall McLuhan, "At the empirical level of consciousness, the medium is the message, whereas at the intelligent and rational levels of consciousness, the content is the message.” An interesting quote to say the least, but it definitely applies here. Music, is the medium...the lyrics, its message.

Somewhere bands have forgotten this because it seems like more and more bands care about the money, and the fame, and the internet popularity more than the music itself. Its almost as if they are thinking, heck...we may SOUND like someone else, but they are pretty popular, why wouldnt we reach the same fame as them.

But its not the publics fault, places like mtv, vh1, the internet, the radio...they are all giving into this trend...by continually playing these bands over and over again...and helping all of the same crap reach fame repeatedly.

I then began to wonder where this all started...15 years ago was a rather rich time for music, with the crazed Alternative trend that hit beginning and ending with the decade of the 90s. It was here when bands were making it big more than ever, and yet, it was also here where the one-hit-wonder was almost the staple of good music. Not too many bands that had big hits ever came back and had others. (now, im not saying there werent any bands that made it, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus to name a few) what I am saying is, that you can list off all those big hits of the 90s, yet, have no idea who the artist was in some cases. My local radio station, live105, used to have 90s at noon every weekday. And they were always welcome to people calling in, requesting songs. It seemed like 75% of the time people were calling in, they either had no idea who the artist was, or sometimes, they werent even able to name the song...merely some of the lyrics. The point I am getting at is, music has lost something over the years.

I may seem crazy when saying this, but its almost as if the 90s alternative lead to the demise of REAL music, music with actual purpose, lyrics, meaning...

been lagging

so ya, as the title says, been lagging alot as of late. anyways, since my last post not too much has happened. i can go day by day, but seeing as how nothing happened saturday or sunday, ill just jump from today back to monday or something.

today, not a whole lot happened really. realized my fantasy football team isnt as great as i thought it was (which is a shock, since i was thinking i would be contending for first place this year). o well, its only week 1, so i cant get too down just yet, not to mention i had one guy get hurt, and two others recovering from injury (i know...i drafted hurt people, o well).

friday sure was interesting. i ended up hanging out with some friends at a park, which happened to be closed at night. long story short, running from certain people occured, and i thought that would be my only encounter with "the law" that night, but i was badly mistaken. later that night i was simply hanging out with some friends where we usually do, and a cop pulls up to us. we are figuring he is just gonna ask us to leave or something...he ends up getting out of his car, and right away starts cussing us out for whatever wrong it was that we were doing (i never knew sitting on some benches at a donut shop while occasionally eating donuts was such an illegal act) anyways, after talking some more about something, he threatens us and leaves. now that had me pretty pissed off and wanting to take some sort of action against that a**hole. well, without any ID on the guy, i figured it was a lost cause really and just went home to an eventual boring weekend.

ya.........hopefully ill have more interesting posts later this week...

giggidy

so today was another scorcher, upwards in the low 90s most likely (at least it felt that way) finally got back into the groove of things after a slow weekend (which always seems to bring people down) but hey, thats why theres next weekend right? anyways...i find it amazing that i have finally motivated myself to actually give a damn in school, which is bizarre to me seeing as how i havent really cared in a good 4 years.

this story caught my eye...but for all the wrong reasons: bwamz

whats there to say...a young man, who was actually making a difference in his city was killed, most likely for those reasons. this is just a sign of things to come i would imagine (not necessarily murder, but killings of people who are trying to change the world) look at all the suspicions with obama being nominated and him being assasinated shortly thereafter. talk about ridiculous.

Take 2

Second post, let's see where this goes...

September 1st, 2008...Labor Day...Prison Break was back on with a 2 hour season premiere for Season 4. Ironically however, it has nothing to do with any prisons really, and the only breaking involved is now breaking IN versus breaking out. (should provide for an interesting twist) the BEST part of today tho has to do with getting a new boss at work. My old boss (dickhead) did not get his contract renewed, so yesterday was his last day, and now a new guy is coming in. (whatever that means to me)

Nothing really interesting caught my eye in the media today...hopefully something tomorrow?
